What a dummy!

The title of this blog post certainly does not refer to me, right? Or, hmm, well, maybe sometimes it does, but not in this case, ok? 🙂

Funny, goofy things happen in the world, yes? For example, after a recent blog post of mine, I received a comment … a comment that the software I use caught and held, so that you did not see the comment. But I thought you might like to see the comment. It said, “Hi, there has helped me a lot to grow my cat, which I love very much. Above the walls.”

Well now, that just says it all doesn’t it?

I get spam comments like this pretty much every day. Thankfully, the software I use for the blog catches these comments and holds these comments for me to look at. So far, there hasn’t been ONE of these comments that’s actually a real comment. These bogus comments always include a link to scam/spam/hacker software that would mess with your computer (or mine) should you open those comments. I love the software I use.

Speaking of goofy things (and dummies), the other day I was sitting at my desk, using my computer, meandering about online, looking at YouTube videos, when I came across this video below. I think she’s really quite clever! Maybe this will give you a little light-hearted chuckle like it did for me. I hope so. 🙂 Turn your sound on first.

It’s too bad GoogleTranslate can’t reel this back to see what mysterious message this might have really been in the originator’s language.

    Loved the vid. thanks.

Well, this same comment has been sent in reply to a number of my blog posts over the past month or two, so I strongly suspect it’s simply English words stuck together without much caring whether it makes sense or not. There has always been a website link stuck in the middle of that message. This is certainly a hacker trying to get their dastardly comment posted, and then they get into your computer system when you, the reader, innocently click on that link. Unfortunately for them, my blog uses an app that corrals all comments that have a link in them and does not post them for you to see. I then look at them and decide whether to approve them or not. Over the time I’ve been producing this blog, there have been a couple of comments from you readers with legitimate links in your comments … I always approve those. 🙂 But these other bogus messages … I delete them faster than you can say “monkey business!”

    What fun!

I live alone and needed a boost, and there it was, that was terrific, above the walls and above the ceiling even! She is very good. Thanks Ann.

You are welcome. There are a number of YouTube videos of other performances by her. Her language can get a little rough, but she is so darned clever, and that monkey is so darned cute.

Too too funny-hope I can share it.

Monkeys are so cute! What a fresh take on ventriloquism.
And look at all the people sitting in one big theatre enjoying laughter and togetherness!
Let’s get back to that soon…..please.

    • Ann says:

Wow, I hadn’t realized that … so many people in the theatre sitting so close and touching and laughing together, without fear. Oh my, doesn’t that sound wonderful. Yes, we will be back to that soon. I live alone too (like Ben) and I’ve been going bananas! That’s a reference to the monkey too, see? 🙂

I have a friend who tried to become a professional ventriloquist, that’s a tough job. It’s really difficult. Nina Conti is spectacular, particularly since she includes in the act that it’s her voice and her ideas that are being used on whatever dummy she uses. That really takes a special talent. I’ve watched several of her other videos online and yeah she does get a little raunchy at times but if you can overlook that, she’s one of the best!

    • Ann says:

Thanks Shawn, interesting observation. I have not seen another ventriloquist who worked into the act that SHE was the mind and voice of the dummy. The other ventriloquists that I’ve seen completely pretend that the dummy is a separate entity, but not Nina Conti. And you’re right, it works when she does it.
