Mardon, bird identification!

Remember this bird from a few posts ago? Specifically from the first drive up to the north end of the Potholes Reservoir?

I thought this bird might be a White-throated Swallow, except the coloration wasn’t exactly right. So I asked you readers for help. You helped! 🙂

Blog reader Jan reports that this gorgeous person is an American Tree Swallow. Yes, I didn’t think of that!

Jan says their habitat is open country near water, marshes, meadows, wooded swamps, especially those with dead trees. And now I remember that this bird kept going in and out of, and flying around, the brown trunk of the decaying tree that it was sitting next to in these photos.

Jan, you obviously have the keen eye of a bird-lover. Thank you!
