Ann, you have kept us in suspense long enough!
Show us what she looks like inside!
Ok, ok, ok, hang onto your britches. First I have to tidy up, sweep the floor, dust off the counters, arrange the decorations, open the window shades, turn on the lights, plump the pillows, etc. You know how it is when you’re about to have company.
Ok, here she is!
Come on in!
You walk in the door and look to the left. First thing in the door on the left is the kitchen, a large sink (I added that), a two burner gas stovetop, no oven (could have had one but I don’t use one when I’m camping), and lots of storage space below and above counter. I opted not to have a fan installed above the stove top. Everyone I’ve talked with said the MAXX fan in the center of the ceiling is way more powerful than the tiny fan that would have been installed over the stove top … and, this way, I had a light installed there instead.
Notice the sign that sits behind the stove top. I’m a retired diesel and gas mechanic. And I am getting older and wiser, right? 🙂
Then turn and look straight towards the back of the trailer. Again, lots of storage above and below the dinette area.
That window outside the rear trailer window is my home’s kitchen window. The black pedestal under the trailer’s table allows it to be easily raised or lowered to any height desired, including lowering to become a double/full bed. [By default, the table had two solid legs that got in the way of one’s feet and legs when sitting there and did not allow the table to be lowered for computer/laptop height, etc.] The table top glides left and right to allow easy access to the dinette seats, and can be locked in place when desired (especially when towing).
Little Towhee is chatting with the bear and the birds on the little lamp that I use for just a spot of light in the evening, when I don’t want the bright overhead lights on.

Now turn a bit more to the right and you’ll see other interior long wall of the trailer.
The fridge, with separate freezer, and again lots more storage, more drawers, a sizable hanging locker, and the black outlet for the propane furnace air.
Now turn further to the right and you’ll be looking towards the front of the trailer …. and a very comfortable bed with a real mattress (not air or foam, but a real household mattress). And, more storage! Also notice the lights, one in each corner above the head of the bed … I opted to have those added.
The bed is double/full wide but queen-size long, just fine for me. I added the front window as an option. It has a panel over it on the outside that opens and, when it’s closed, it’s a rock guard for that window glass since that’s the very front of the trailer. For security, I wanted to be able to see out the front of the trailer, particularly since that’s usually where the truck will be parked. So when I’m out camping, I expect I will open that front exterior rock guard when I arrive at my destination and simply leave it open as long as I’m camped in a particular spot.
Just a little soft, fluffy decadence. 🙂
The door to the right of the bed is the bathroom with toilet and small sink, a toiletries cabinet, and a “wet bath” which means the entire bathroom is the shower. Some trailers have a separate shower, but they take up a lot of storage space in a small trailer. You can see the shower curtain rolled up out of the way for these photos. I’ve since unhooked it and simply store it in a bag in one of the cupboards above the bed. It’s easy to set up when I want.
And then, further to the right just a tad … when you close the door to the bathroom, then what should appear behind it … a very nice series of storage bins that are right next to the exterior door. It’s a great place to store keys, wallet, camera, a brush for your muddy shoes, a small level if you need it when parking, flashlights, bear spray (so you see it and don’t forget to take it when hiking), etc. Anyone standing outside the trailer cannot see these cubby holes, so can’t see what’s in them, so is unlikely to reach in and take anything. Besides, when I’m not right there at my trailer, I always close and lock the exterior door.
So that’s what Towhee the Trailer looks like on the inside. I think she’s great.
There are lots more details and lots more custom stuff and interesting things about this trailer. The amount of storage is amazing. The refrigerator/freezer is huge. I had ETI install a larger sink and a taller faucet in the kitchen. I will share more of those details, and information about the electrical system and all of its doo-dads, in future posts.
But for now, at least you know what the interior looks like and what my color scheme is … so very important in life! 🙂
I may not keep her this tidy all the time, but I hope to keep the flotsam and jetsam to a minimum. A space this small could get messy and cluttered fairly quickly.
