I’m home now, in between camping trips. One thing I do when I’m home is search online using my big home computer for videos of travels in other parts of the world … places I likely will never see myself.
This evening, I happened upon a reference to some videos made by Paul Murton. I had seen some of his videos years ago and had forgotten all about him. But I remember liking his videos a lot. So, with that little memory from the past, I searched out this more recent series that had been mentioned, and I found them! I’ve just finished watching the first video in the series of 6 videos … it’s wonderful!
You might think that a half hour of looking at remote (VERY remote!) Scottish islands would be boring … some scenery, a bit of bird wildlife, some old historic photos … what more is there to see or talk about? Well, you just watch this. 🙂 Paul Murton includes so many wonderful things in his travel videos, so many personal things, so much detailed information that is truly fascinating, with seriousness and a wonderful sense of humour. He even includes some highlights of a quick game of golf he played on the second remote island … well, it’s sort of golf, you’ll see.
I might have to order a sweater or a throw or a warm fisherwoman’s kep(cap) from the Fair Isle knitters … yes? There are six videos in this series by Paul Murton … all are on YouTube at “Grand Tours of the Scottish Islands Series” … and can be found HERE.
Here’s a link to a short Wikipedia article about Paul Murton … https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Murton.
Even if I wasn’t part Scottish, seems to me the video above is fascinating. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the series. And I’ll keep looking for more videos about other places in the world and other people (and birds). Maybe I’ll find similar videos about Armenia, or some of the Caribbean islands, or Cambodia. Who knows? Aren’t people and places all over the world absolutely fascinating and wonderful?
Just one more SHORT video to share. I don’t ordinarily include political things in my blog, but I’m going to here. Seems to me that we need to speak up, gather and support people who care about each other. Especially with the ICE killings and brutality by ICE of USA citizens (and others) in Minnesota these days, we have to step up and stop the stupid cruelty and violence of the USA government. So I’m sharing this. Rest assured, the video below does not show any ICE brutality, but it does have a message that I think y’all will understand.
This video is about Greenland … which is owned by Denmark. Besides the current political message that is obvious, I love the production of the video. They surely used “AI” to create some of the video. There are no penguins in Greenland for instance, but maybe it’s a nod to making a pact all over the earth, from the north pole to the south pole, where there ARE penguins. And that’s great with me. What it took to produce this! Walrus people and Polar Bear people and Orcas! Besides Scottish, I also have Danish and northern Norwegian ancestors … whom today we call the Vikings … that’s me. The USA does not own Greenland. Keep your hands off! Turn your sound UP!
And, don’t forget to go watch the other five videos of that Scottish islands series … they are so wonderful.
