Gratitude

Lately I’ve had the opportunity to be very grateful for so many things in my life. No mention will be made here as to why that is. Could be losses, could be changes, could even be added things in my life, new friends, a new excellent connection with a neighbor, could even be such realistic dreams of my wonderful beloved dog friend Alex. Or the sunshine … or the rain (not much yet here in the northwest eh? but a tiny bit has arrived) … or new Caryopteris (Black Knight) plants that I planted in front of my house. Or the steadfast friendship of neighbors and others. Hey, might even just be that I’m still healthy at 74 years old.

I’ve been working my way through the videos of Becca’s “BWoodPhotography” on YouTube, and just this evening came upon the one below … Gratitude. Try it on. I think you’ll like it.

“Gratitude helps you to grow and expand; gratitude brings joy and laughter into your life and into the lives of all those around you.” Eileen Caddy.

There are a number of additional and excellent quotes in the video. You can stop the video at any point in order to read those quotes.

The first few seconds of the video have no sound, but after just those first few seconds it explodes … wonderfully. Turn your sound up.

Kindness and gratitude are so infectious. Please open the door in your own life and heart for yourself. And then spread it around, just spread it around. 🙂

Started reading your blog a few months ago and still have a lot of catching up to do. Haven’t commented before but I want to say how much I appreciate the blog. This post particularly. My wife and I had a travel trailer and spent whole summers in it. I lost her three years ago. Your blog is helping me get through a really hard time. Sorry to dump on you here, but your blog really is helping espcially the Gratitude video.

Greg, I’m very sorry about your wife. I imagine this IS a really difficult time. I love reading this blog too, it helps with my wanderlust urge to see parts of the country I’ve never seen before. Hoping your tomorrow is better!

    • Ann says:

I’m glad you’re here, Greg, and appreciate your comment a great deal. Kindness and gratitude mean a lot to me and make a big difference in my life when I pay attention to them, especially during rough times. Bless you.

That was a very beautiful video. I haven’t been to Yellowstone since I was a kid in the 70s. Glad to see it in this. It would be fun to be out there getting these video clips, wouldn’t it!

    • Ann says:

I imagine Becca has a super time getting her videos and photos. I’m not sure I’d be happy be out there in the middle of winter, but for those stunning shots it might be worth it. I gotta get to Yellowstone too … so many places!

Sorry for your loss, Greg. No need to apologize, I think we all understand. That was a great video, Ann, with quotes that made both of us stop and think and be ever more mindful of our attitudes. The videos were gorgeous, we now have Becca’s videos on our favorites list and will watch them.

She has, I think, hundreds of videos similar to this one, each about a different animal or plant or area of Yellowstone. We’ll be watching her videos for a long time, Jim, I’m sure looking forward to it.

Wow, the music is super! When I read the word “gratitude”, I thought the music would be sweet and quiet and gentle, but it’s the opposite, it’s strong and purposeful and supportive. And yet it fits. Great video.

  6. Ruby Begonia says:

Me too, I almost didn’t watch the video for fear of a way too sweet music. But the music energized me and yet wasn’t overpowering. Great stuff.

    • Ann says:

Yep, looks like a number of us learned that sweet music doesn’t necessarily match up with deep feelings. Interesting.

  7. Susan Kelly says:

I especially like the William Wordsworth quote “all that we behold is full of blessings”. Somewhere, somehow, there is always something good in everything, we just have to pay attention and find it. What a great video.

    • Ann says:

That quote has stuck with me, Susan. I’ve been more concious of paying attention to something (or someone) that I wouldn’t have before. I’m finding more blessings … and I’m also finding that I still may not want to pay a lot of attention to those things (or people) even tho I can now see some blessings there. But it’s a good practice to develop.

It’s a great gift to figure out how to live a purposeful life in enough time to actually do just that.
If ever there was a time to renew our faith in friends, health and the simple pleasures of nature it is now. After all these months hearing about Covid, I am so grateful to come out the other side determined to make the most of each day.
Greg, to share that you are struggling takes strength, and hopefully there are better days ahead for you.

  9. Kristin Michael says:

Excellent video and messages. And: I had no idea you are so young!

  10. Melly says:

Yes! In everything give thanks! I love Yellowstone & most of the animals frolicking in snow!!! The struggles they have to endure just to eat. I, myself, have witnessed first hand how GRATITUDE changes everything… because when we are grateful, the Lord will work in us to heal and restore any past hurts or injuries. May God bless you and keep you 💕🙏💕

    • Ann says:

Absolutely! To realize how much it takes for animals in the wild to live, and then to see them having fun too, that’s pretty spectacular. And that’s yet another lesson for me, go have fun! Love life! Be thankful! Thanks Melly. 🙂
