Kanaskat, day 4 afternoon

What a perfect first camping trip with this brand new trailer.  The trailer is a keeper for sure.

But the time here at Kanaskat went by so fast!  This was my last afternoon at Kanaskat Palmer State Park.  One more walk through the woods, to watch the river, to hear the birds.  I’m sure I’ll be back!

Even Little Towhee seemed reluctant to leave.  She was out chatting with all of her bird friends one last time.

The forest was much friendlier during this walk. 🙂

The rich hanging moss on the tree limbs above moved ever so gracefully in the slight breeze.  It reminded me of the song “Dancing Queen”.

These orange growths were on a fallen tree.  I can’t remember having seen anything like them before.

And this big one (above) looked just like “Jabba the Hut” in Star Wars.

I said goodbye to the river …

… and headed back through the woods to my campsite.

Just in case it might be raining in the morning, I hitched the truck to the trailer later this evening … ready to roll.

… and then I spent the last heavenly night of this camping trip on that foam mattress.  I do sleep better in the trailer than at home.  Is that because I get more exercise when I’m out camping?  Or because there are fewer demands on my time?  Or is it really the mattress?  Maybe it’s a combination of all of those things.

What a beautiful world I live in!  I’m so happy to be able to see these small parts of it and to share it with you folks.  Thank you for coming along!  🙂

It’s nice to read that you enjoyed your camping trip. It’s so beautiful there, it would be hard to leave.
Interesting growths on the trees. I’ve never seen anything like that before.

Indeed, it was hard to leave. But I do love my washer/dryer and my huge bathroom shower and my recliner chair, etc, at home. I’m awfully blessed to have both worlds.
I’ve been trying to find a photo of that orange stuff online, to no avail.

I really enjoyed following along on this trip. I found it to be a magical place and if just though your pictures it must have been wonderful for you being there.
I have no idea what that fungi is called either.
Thank you for taking us along.

My wife and I are sure liking this tour of your part of the country. We did not realized it was so interesting. We figured it was just green and boring but there is so much to it! Looking forward to the next destination.

Even though there is so much green, there is so much variety of green … and then there’s the orange fungi and other interesting things. And I bet I’ll find Montana just as interesting when I get there one of these days.
