Springtime!

Spring has sprung. And the leaves are green. And there’s a deer in my back yard!

It’s there in the distance in the photo above, just to the left of center, curled up on the lawn. From my office window, I couldn’t tell whether it was juvenile or adult, male or female, so I zoomed in with my camera a bit.

Ah ha, spots! It’s a young one for sure. What a cutie, eh? I had my camera at max zoom for the photo below, and I was standing inside the glass window of my office, so this youngster isn’t quite in focus, but she’s sure cute isn’t she?

Hey! I can hear your camera whirring! Who’s taking pictures of me without my permission?!

Guess I better clean myself up for photos. And a nice, big stretch feels so good.

Gotta tidy up this one spot.

I still haven’t figured out how to get back down on the ground gracefully. I still just sort of plop down … ugh.

But I’m very cute, especially with my ears positioned perfectly, one forward and one back. My momma taught me that trick. She said that’s so I can listen for danger from all directions, but I know it’s actually so I look really good in photos.

I watched this fawn from my office window for quite some time. I thought maybe momma would appear, but she didn’t, at least not while I was watching.

A few hours later, I looked out the window and the fawn was gone. I wished her well and hoped she would be safe … and come back soon.

Here’s my favorite photo of her from this afternoon’s photo shoot:

Isn’t she elegant?

You are so good Ann! Your photos are super. What a sweet fawn. I don’t comment often here but I’m an internet/IT tech, from several years ago. I appreciate the “Archive” page that you wrote on your own because WordPress couldn’t, wouldn’t, didn’t, and you keep it up to date (think of that!). And I really like the header photos. They’re always a little snapshot of something you’ve seen, this one was so cute of your little bird friend Little Towhee and the travel trailer she found. If anyone forgets how to find info about Ann’s header photos, there’s a link to them at the top of every page … Header Photos. Ann’s blog is really great, it’s so well written and so well constructed from a professional point of view. Kudos to you Ann!

Thank you, Ruth! Other readers have voiced appreciation too. Any time anyone comments is a bonus for me. But you know what underlies this whole process. Thank you, very much appreciated. And … thanks for being here. ๐Ÿ™‚

She’s so perky! What fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

Me too, Ruth, I’ve been an MCSE for many years and Ann’s blog is so very nicely designed and written technically. Photos open in a separate FULL window, links open in a separate window, the “Archive” page that she wrote is super, etc. And beyond that, her blog is interesting and informative and fun. Ok, maybe she’s a little behind in posting her camping blogs, but that’s ok. As the reader Kathie says, Ann’s an angel. And other folks have suggested a “Little Towhee” children’s book series, that would be so cool!

    • Ann says:

Thank you, Jamie! Gosh, I’m pleased! I was an MCSE as well (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) for about nine years, passed all seven exams back then, and aced every one of them on the first try. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I don’t have a lifetime of experience like other MCSE folks do. Your comments, Jamie, and Ruth’s are truly very much appreciated. Ok, ok, ok, I’ll catch up on the camping blog posts, I promise! ๐Ÿ™‚

I like when you go camping, and I like when you stay home. What a sweetie deer.

    • Ann says:

Me too, Nevada … I like it when I go camping, and I like it when I’m home. YOU are a sweetie, dear. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Dawn King says:

So beautiful. I love when they choose my yard to wait for mom.

    • Ann says:

Doesn’t it feel special when mom and the fawn choose your yard? When they know your yard is a safe place to be? The world seems ok then.
      Thanks, Dawn. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. M&M says:

That last photo is superb! You must have a ton of patience.

    • Ann says:

Ah, yes, patience. ๐Ÿ™‚ And being retired helps. And having a pretty darned good digital zoom camera helps. But also patience, you’re absolutely right. Sometimes it just takes time and the exact right moment to snap a photo … sometimes I don’t even know I snapped the perfect photo until later when I look at the photos. Thanks for the compliment, M&M. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for being part of the journey.

  7. Dapper David says:

Dawn can understand what birds are saying. Ann can understand what deer are saying. Amazing people! ๐Ÿ™‚ And pretty cute photos.

  8. Bill Burnn says:

What a fun dialogue from that fawn, who’s taking my photo!?!?!. Great photos.

    What delightful snapshots!
All babies are cute, no matter the species….
